Track and field people, take heart. Your time is coming. And soon.
As all of us know, road running has become a phenomenal movement in this country. More and more runners. Bigger races. Bigger sponsors. Bigger money. And more publicity for road runners.We think it’s time track and field athletes got their share of the spotlight, too. We know you’re training at a personal sacrifice to make the 1980 Olympic team.
We know, too, that you’re not getting much financial support from the government, private industry and the so-called athlete organizations. Or encouragement from the public.
But hang in there. All eyes will be on you in Moscow, and if you don’t bring home the medals, you’re going to hear about it from people mouthing off. People who should be supporting you right now.
We’re putting our money where our mouth is by giving financial aid to Athletics West, our post-graduate track and field club. We’ve also never forgotten track and field when it comes to shoes. Because we’re athletic supporters, from the ground up.
